Random Coffee vs. Tea rant

Show me an American who drinks tea, and I'll show you somebody with serious issues. I'm not talking about people who drink tea when they're sick, or who react badly to caffeine, or at a Chinese restaurant, or at one of those fancy-schmancy places that bring you over all those tea bags. I'm talking about your average guy or gal who works in an office and instead of drinking coffee in the morning has tea. Every one of the people I've known who do this are serously wacked.

I've worked with lots of people who weren't born in the USA; people from India, the Middle East, Russia, Britain, Korea, Japan and China. Most of these people I've known drink tea instead of coffee; that's fine. That's what's done in most of those countries. But if you're a born and bred American, and you don't love your coffee, then there's something not quite right.

The reason I thought about this today is that I'm feeling a bit under the weather, and realized I'd like a nice cup of tea. Tea is great when you need something to soothe your aches. It just isn't a substitute for coffee when you need to clear the cobwebs out of your brain in the morning.

Oh, and don't forget to order my book, "What Sucks About South Florida" for your friends for the holidays.
