Only One Bullet

Here is a tough question for Red Sox fans. Imagine you have a gun, but only a single bullet. Who do you kill -- John Lackey or Dice-K Matsuzaka?

Both are great candidates. Lackey can't get anyone out. His WHIP is somewhere around 2.0, and he's just about the worst starting pitcher in the American League. Plus, we have this piece of crap for another 3 years after 2011, for 65 million or so remaining on his contract.

Dice-K, on the other hand, is almost out of here -- 2011 or 2012 is his last year in Boston. Plus, he had a couple of really good starts. But, those were most likely blips rather than a picture of what's to come. And as for unwatchable pitchers, he's right up there with the worst. He walks about 45 guys per game. He is very deliberate.

Tough choice, I know. But I think we'd all feel much better if one of these guys "disappeared."
