The Religious Right Really Pisses Me Off

Here's one example of why the religious right is so fucking stupid and wrong--just one, mind you; there are plenty of others.

Gay marriage. They are against it. Give me one reason—and you can't mention the bible—why gay marriage isn't the right thing to do. They can't. They'll start by arguing "traditional marriage"—but where is their basis for what they consider traditional marriage? That's right: it comes from the bible.

And so, now they will say, well, you can't just take the bible out of the argument. No? Fuck yes I can.

The bible is a fantasy D&D book written over 2,000 years ago by fucking stupid people (I'm paraphrasing the great David Cross here), who were even stupider than we are now.

If you want to believe in it, fine: but there's absolutely no excuse to govern according to it. Even our own forefathers had the insight to take religion out of the equation. They put into the constitution the separation of church and state. Unfortunately, the religious right has been helping to make church and state less and less separate over the past decade or two.
